So, who is God? What a question! Where to begin? Well, let's start at the beginning... What is Creation? The universe is so unbelievably large. Have you thought about how massive it is? When you look at the stars in the sky at night, what you are seeing is a mere fraction of the universe as a whole, that is, if the universe ever ends. Have you ever wondered where it all started? The Bible starts with "In the beginning, God..." So, there must have been a point where it all started. How did it start? What was there before it started? It makes my head spin just thinking about it. Was it just a fluke? A random event? Or was the universe created by something? This would mean some sort of all-powerful being, right? What is God?God is the name that people use for the highest being in all creation. If you believe that the universe was created, and that it was created by a being, then God must be unimaginably powerful. It stands to reason that if He is so powerful to create the universe, then He is so powerful that he is in control of everything He has created. That means He takes care of all of the big things and all of the little things at the same time. He's more than able to take care of you. Did God create me? Human beings exist on the planet we call Earth (quite an imaginative name for our planet!) and like the universe, we must have come from somewhere. Another fluke? Whatever take you have on evolution, God is in control and has a plan for your life, even from before you were born. You were born from the womb of a woman. The spark of life given to you must be from God. Can I see God? God is in everything, in all of His creation. Some people like to think of God as an old, bearded man lying in the clouds. It is an imaginative thought, but God is not like that at all - He is out of our comprehension. While we can not actually see God, we can talk to him. We can do that through prayer. What's prayer? We need to talk with God to have a relationship with Him, just like our relationships with friends and family. We don't have to fulfill any requirements in order to talk to God, He hears us whenever, wherever and however we choose to go about it. Prayer isn't religious, it's personal. It gets us close to God, who loves us and wants us to get to know Him. What's God like?He is all-powerful and benevolent, compassionate and gracious. He is selfless and loves His creation. And He loves you. How can I find out more? The Alpha Course is a great place to start. Please click here to find out more.
